My favourite post from Sarah last week, because we need to find the laughs where we can, was about the new trailer for the He-Man movie that’s trying not to be the He-Man movie, Masters of the Universe, which looks so f-cking goofy, I’m actually into it. And I hope they keep rocking with the goofy vibes on the press tour, nobody needs this movie to be Serious – just lean all the way into the silliness, it might be a hilarious companion to Christopher Nolans’s The Odyssey, an actual Serious movie but with similar-ish costuming. Let it be the Barbenheimer of 2026, LOL. He-dyssey is coming to a theatre near you this summer!

Anyway, the reason I’m talking about He-Man in an article about Chris Hemsworth is because, as Sarah noted, He-Man is basically just Thor. And the actual cinematic Thor is coming back for Avengers: Doomsday. Before that, though, Chris stars in Crime 101, opening on February 13 for those who don’t want love on Valentine’s Day and prefer an action thriller instead.

Chris was in Spain today to promote the movie and while the beefy Thor thing isn’t usually my kink, the stupidly straight part of my pussy is responding in a primitive way to this empirically attractive man in a wool coat and his shirt unbuttoned. Not proud of it and I kinda want to apologise but the hormones work in mysterious ways.

The cast of Crime 101 also includes Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, and more. That’s an Oscar winner, multiple Oscar nominees, and a grump (this is a generous description of Nick Nolte, he must have really needed the money). I’ve attached the trailer below but the stars aren’t really the story here.

Crime 101 is based on Don Winslow’s novella of the same name. Don Winslow has sold a lot of books, The Cartel trilogy is probably his best known work, critically acclaimed and commercially successful. But Don Winslow doesn’t just express himself in his novels, he is active on social media and he is an active and passionate critic of the Trump administration. He is releasing a new book, The Final Score, and promoting this movie. But he’s had to cancel his appearances because he’s been getting death threats for voicing his disgust at ICE and MAGA and that cabal of f-cking assholes who’ve seized power in the United States.

In a new interview this week with Rolling Stone, Don talks about the resistance, how he uses his platform (he makes political videos pointing out the hypocrisy and the heinousness of the current administration that have been viewed millions of times), and both his new book and Crime 101, the movie.

He was also just profiled in the Washington Post.

To go back to the Hollywood of all of this, the stars out promoting the film, and the author is promoting the film. And the stars will definitely not be getting political but their movie is based on a story by a writer who is very much in the fight. Will be interesting how this is handled going forward.
