Intro for October 8, 2026
Dear Gossips,
My favourite annual fashion event is Toronto is the Cashmere Collection show. For 23 years, established and emerging designers from across Canada are invited to design one-of-a-kind pieces made out of a bathroom tissue in support of the breast cancer cause.
Cancer, unfortunately, has affected all of our communities, no matter where we’re from and what we do. My mother-in-law is a breast cancer survivor. My ma has been treated for multiple myeloma twice. That’s my personal inner circle. In the wider professional circle of Canadian media, just last month veteran broadcaster Christine Simpson shared that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Christine spoke at the show last night, revealing that she’s now been through several rounds of chemotherapy and how much she appreciates her team at the Princess Margaret Cancer Care Network and the caregivers and advocates around the country who are assisting survivors and their families and friends in their fight against the disease. There’s an easy way you can help too.
Here are the 16 looks created by the designers for the 2026 Cashmere Collection, made out of Cashmere bathroom tissue. They are spectacular – the highest degree of difficulty highlighting the design talent in Canada.
Vote for your favourite here – voting is free, you can do it every day, and with every vote Cashmere will donate $1 to the breast cancer cause, with proceeds going to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation. Also, every vote enters you for a chance to win $5000.
All you’re doing is looking at some beautiful dresses made out of bathroom tissue and picking the one you like the most. And in the process, you’re supporting research and awareness for the cause, and also the work of Canadian creatives.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
