What Else?
Bad Boys 4 is coming, and the premiere was last night. I have very little interest in this movie (change my mind, Bad Boys!), but I am SO interested to see how the general public reacts to it. This is his first film release since The Slap. (Go Fug Yourself)
Gen Z is into good old-fashioned matchmaking, apparently, but I feel like the larger cycle is a conversation that we’re not having about how hard it is to meet people. Like when dating sites, and then apps, came on the scene in the late 90s and 2000s, people jumped on them because they seemed to take the random guesswork out of dating. But then the sites and apps just became a weird guessing game unto themselves, because no one is honest on the internet (every SINGLE app date I’ve had, the guy has been shorter than he said, if not also substantially older).
So now we’re back to trying to meet people in person, one-to-one, something that was always challenging, but I can only assume is worse for Gen Z, who had a portion of their social development interrupted by COVID. So yeah, turning to matchmaking services makes sense. It’s that same idea of taking out the guesswork, you’re just trusting a human to do it, instead of an algorithm. Hmm, almost like there’s a lesson there! (Popsugar)
Donald Trump was convicted on all 34 felony counts in his hush money trial yesterday. Frankly, I’m shocked, and I’m still waiting to see what kind of sentencing he gets, because people like Trump don’t usually get in trouble, especially for white collar crimes. And now we’re in the position where as a newly convicted felon, Trump can no longer vote, but he CAN still run for president, because America is a silly place. Anyway, TIME magazine’s special cover is cool. (Celebitchy)
Literally moments after posting Lainey’s update on Bennifer, new photos of them holding hands after Violet Affleck’s graduation party became available. So here are those photos, with their kids intermingling and yet Bennifer still “look tense”. Back to my point about Shiloh Jolie, you know who I feel worst for here? Violet. She didn’t ask for worldwide attention or for any of this sh-t to be happening during her high school graduation. (TMZ)
Capping off our discussion about the state of movie theaters and movie-going, here are five entirely sensible suggestions to make going to the movies great again. (RogerEbert.Com)
