Channing Tatum is going through it

It’s not that I don’t care that Zoë Kravitz and Harry Styles might be engaged, or are probably engaged, since PEOPLE is even reporting it now, but as Maria said in one of her Celebrity Social Media roundups last week, ring-watch is almost too pedestrian for someone as cool as Zoë. It’s been obvious since the jump that Harry is obsessed with her, like all the other men who’ve been obsessed with her and have tried to wife her. Including Channing Tatum.

Channing Tatum entering the chat is when I started getting interested in the Zoë-Harry engagement, because Chan, who wanted to marry Zoë until she decided she didn’t want to marry him (we don’t know that this is what happened for sure but this is the version of events that almost everyone assumes to be true), may or may not have shared his reaction to the news on Instagram – or at least what the internet is interpreting his reaction to be.

There’s a video, featuring people slapping at each other with pool noodles, as a form of stress release that he wrote he “might actually do”…

…which wouldn’t have been all that gossip-worthy had it not followed a screenshot also posted to stories but now deleted of an angsty poem about who the writer had become and a struggle between the brain and the heart.

Someone is in his feelings. The moon of Emo Chan is rising just as his ex-fiancée has (for now) agreed to marry a mega popstar. The governing emotion in this era of Sad Chan is regret – a poem like that is a rueful song that can only be played on violin, accompanied by the melancholic cries of a mourning dove. Is Channing Tatum OK?

Is Inka Williams OK?

Inka is the model Chan’s been dating for over a year. She’s 26 years old and the age is relevant here because she is 100% of the generation raised on reading into social media as the most accurate microscope into the human soul. If she and Chan are still together, and he’s out here serving up his feelings on Instagram for everyone to sip as tea, assuming that he’s pining for Zoë Kravitz, I can’t imagine that would go over very well.

And of course, of course this could have just been an innocent share, just a morose little poem that Channing decided to repost to perform profundity and not heartbreak, not realising that the timing of it would have everyone connecting it to the fact that his ex has changed her status from dating to engaged. Until his publicist called and told him to take it the f-ck down, not that it will change anything. Instead, the Zoë Kravitz narrative is quickly becoming mythology – she loves them, briefly, but when she leaves them, they will never recover.
