And partridge in a pear tree.

Did you just groan? I’m sorry! I just couldn’t bring myself to the delete that sentence.

Anyway, in my post yesterday about Jennifer Lopez, I noted that 2024 has been a tumultuous year for her but that it’s ending on a positive, because no one bounces back and Teflons like our girl, and that 2025 is looking positive, especially if Kiss of the Spider Woman is ready for release and they take it out on the festival circle. As I said, JLo hasn’t had a big footprint at Cannes, so seeing her at the Palais, on those red steps, promoting that film would be something to look forward to.

Speaking of that film though, she just did an interview with Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast to promote Unstoppable and talked about Kiss of the Spider Woman and it turns out, she’s playing three roles:

“Lopez’s next project is the highly anticipated adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” directed by Bill Condon. The film offers Lopez the opportunity to play three distinct characters: Aurora, a glamorous actress; her role within the film — a haunting figure known as the Spider Woman; and the Spider Woman’s alter-ego.

“It’s probably the most challenging and rewarding role I’ve ever had,” Lopez teases. “It’s about love, acceptance, and finding beauty in the darkness. I think those themes are so relevant right now.”

JLo is acting, singing, and dancing in the film. So it’s going to be really interesting how Kiss of the Spider Woman will be received. The previous adaptation, starring Raul Julia, Sonia Braga, and William Hurt actually premiered in Cannes… in 1985. So there’s a lot of symmetry here if the new adaptation also screens in Cannes in 2025, exactly 40 years later. The first film, by way, won multiple awards and was nominated for four Oscars, with one win for William Hurt. Let’s see what kind of a push they put behind this one in 2025 that was… co-produced by Ben and Matt Damon’s Artists’ Equity.

In other JLo news, she gave us an American Thanksgiving post yesterday. Started the year with a husband, ending the year with a turkey. SORRY again, I couldn’t help that either. As usual, she is stunning. The glow is there – I know she’s better hydrated than that turkey, this is for sure, because turkey is never not dry. Which, by the way, is my first hate-mention of turkey this season and it won’t be the last. Those of you who’ve been visiting this site over the years might remember that my three hate constants here are: turkey, raisins, and Halloween. You will never convince me that turkey is juicy. Please do not bother sending me your family recipe, the bird is dry, no matter how you try to cook it.

Let’s not fight then and talk about her sweater instead. It’s a great sweater but it looks itchy, right? Do you think she really eats in that sweater? I can’t eat in uncomfortable materials. It takes away the flavour.
