I’m a couple of days late on this but you know what? The holiday season just started, we have a whole season to do this so what’s the rush? Some people would actually be angry about the rush. Like when I was growing up, I feel like the holiday season didn’t really start until after Remembrance Day (Veterans Day in the United States) and there’s also still three weeks until American Thanksgiving. But I look around now and holiday lights are already up. I’ve seen trees decorated. People are putting up wreaths. Is it early for you? Or do you not mind? I can’t say I mind. I like the festivity, especially after Halloween since I hate Halloween decorations, and twinkly, sparkly always lifts the mood.
Who’s complaining that Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson are taking us into the holidays?
I’m sure you’ve seen it but in case you haven’t, Jodie and Josh are fronting J.Crew’s holiday campaign. Whoever pitched this should get a promotion because this idea is f-cking excellent. We’ve been blessed with celebrity romance gossip in 2021: Bennifer, Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly, Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, if that’s your speed, Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum, possibly Kim and Pete, Olivia Wilde and Harry Styles, and while Jodie and Josh aren’t new to 2021, the culture is invested in their love. The internet loves their love – at least the spaces of the internet where I spend time – so there’s a reason why the release of these campaign photos flooded the timeline with so much warmth. This is the wholesome that we needed!
Remember when Megan and MGK did that couples quiz and “breathed each other”, LOL? Well, here’s a slightly different take on that:
Like I said, excellent marketing initiative on J.Crew’s part. Jodie and Josh look great in their clothes. Their vibe is exactly in line with the brand’s. We’ve seen them get cute with each other on social media, the way they comment on each other’s posts, how they talk about each other in interviews, so this energy isn’t coming out of nowhere. Jodie and Josh are sweet on each other, now they’re just between sweet with each other in J.Crew pyjamas and holiday party outfits, it totally works.
And on the style side, J.Crew works on Jodie just as much as Gucci does. Jodie was one of the celebrities who walked the runway at Gucci’s Love Parade fashion show in Hollywood the other night. She’s been a Gucci ambassador for a while now so it wasn’t a surprise at all to see her in one of the most high-key outfits of the night. Those glasses!
As for Josh… he posted about the J.Crew partnership on Instagram and giving us some gossip history:
1998! With the Dawson’s Creek cast! See now that’s another layer of genius. Because of course so much of our collective affection for him goes back to the Pacey Witter days. Pacey grew up, married a goddess, and is now back in the pages of the J.Crew catalogue serving couple goals.
Of course the internet freaked out. This one of the best brand collaborations of the year.
