The Acolyte is the latest Star Wars Universe series, premiering today on Disney+. I covered the junket for ETALK and my interviews with Lee Jung-jae (virtual) and in person with Amandla Stenberg and Manny Jacinto should be rolling out over the next few days.

Amandla is a delight, Manny is the sweetest (and stupidly good looking), and Lee Jung-jae, of course, is a f-cking legend. All of their performances are great, particularly Lee Jung-jae as a Jedi Master and he gave me the most thoughtful answer about being a Jedi that I’ve ever heard; which is that it’s lonely and sad, this is what he opened with, and I love that he sees it this way instead of yeah, bro, so awesome, power, rarrrrhhh, because this perspective is what guides the way he plays his character – thoughtful, sensitive, rueful, patient, and forgiving. Sarah will have more thoughts about The Acolyte later this week.

Today, we’re talking about another cast member, Jodie Turner-Smith. No spoilers but you’ll understand immediately why they cast her, she is such a compelling presence in her scenes on this show.

Jodie’s been in New York this week promoting the series and, as usual, the fashion. The FASHION.

We’ll start with this spectacularly original mint green Wiederhoeft corset dress, SO good.

Then a bit of Playboy bunny moment in this pink feathery bodysuit by one of my favourite labels, Shushu/Tong. If you like dresses with bows and strong collars, but with exaggerated shapes so that it’s not too twee, Shushu/Tong is your thing.

Next for Jodie though is Balmain, and you can never go wrong with a pleated swing dress, ever. Those green suede boots too. Wayman + Micah are crushing it as usual with Jodie.

But we’re not done yet. Last night it was Balmain again and you can see why they saved it for the final carpet. The pattern, the beading, such a funky fresh colour combination…and it’s quilted and padded. This is outrageous, as in outrageously c-nty. The Outfit of the Week, except I couldn’t wait until Friday.
