Jodie wears the grid
As we have seen, Jodie Turner- Smith’s wardrobe for the Tron: Ares press tour has been outstanding. As I also said last week, she’s now working with Law Roach and no longer Wayman + Micah, which may or may not be intriguing and I wonder if we’ll ever know the tea, if there is tea at all.
Last night, for the LA premiere, Jodie was in Burberry – she’s worn a few Burberry pieces (as an ambassador) to promote this movie and they’ve all been dementedly great. This one is no exception as the black leather dress with the red stitching and the zipper and the flared bottom is amazingly constructed, and it doesn’t have to be specific to this movie and her character but, obviously, the connection is there. This is the grid and the light beams and the Tron aesthetic.
In other Jodie news though, she was on Graham Norton last Friday with co-star Greta Lee, Cillian Murphy, Domhnall Gleason, and of course Taylor Swift and allegedly Jodie asked Taylor a question some people think is insensitive, which Graham brushed off and that part was cut out of the show. This was shared on TikTok and because it’s Taylor and her fans can be… intense… Jodie was hit with some online criticism.
Yesterday Jodie shared a post on Instagram and some are reading her caption to be a response to whatever backlash she may have been getting. First of all, this Burberry dress is unbelievable. As for the Taylor mention – and the photos with Taylor in the carousel – enough about what they edited out of the show, what kind of tea is Jodie sharing with Taylor and is it about why she and Joshua Jackson broke up?! Because… well… there are stories circulating and does that change the way Taylor feels about Pacey?
What else happened today…
Is Mark Wahlberg’s flop era over? Does he even know he’s been in a flop era, lol. (Pajiba)
Obsessed with Emma Corrin’s outfit at the Miu Miu show and it’s probably the socks because socks with everything, please please please. Emma and Miu Miu make all the sense to me. Sydney Sweeney and Miu Miu isn’t necessarily an automatic. She wasn’t there though or we would have had to hear about how Scooter Braun went with her. (Go Fug Yourself)
Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, is calling out the AI creators who have been sending her videos of her dad. There’s already a huge problem with deep fakes and the legality of it and the disinformation that will result from it but in this case, on an emotional level, this is deliberately inflicting trauma on family members. The comment section is already toxic as f-ck but imagine having to deal with seeing your late father but not your late father in your mentions all the time? Human beings are not human enough for this technology. (The Guardian)
Onto happier news about the children of celebrities, Kai Schreiber, daughter of Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, was the star of fashion week. (Vanity Fair)
Such a great piece by P Claire Dodson on the interpretation of Ophelia, and not just Taylor Swift’s version of her but how she’s been studied and perceived through cultural shifts. Who the “she” is in that previous sentence might be interchangeable, and that might also be the point. I think Taylor Swift will definitely read and love this essay. (Teen Vogue)
