Here’s what we missed last week in all the Oscar anticipation: Julia Roberts went to Paris. She was there to receive the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts and des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) at the Ministry of Culture in France and then attended the César Awards where she was presented with an honourary César.

She wore a black one-shoulder caped pantsuit that night, which was understated and excellent, but the cuff is what totally makes the outfit.

The standout look from her trip, however, is the pantsuit. Dove grey and beautifully tailored, she is wearing the sh-t out of this Stella McCartney. Great pull by her stylist Elizabeth Stewart because the colour allows the green medal and the patch to really pop. But also, of course, the fit. It’s the crop of the jacket and how it’s longer in the back. And the cut of these pants! The pleating, the length, SO good, and so classic Julia.

By the way, it was Clive Owen who presented Julia with her César. The Closer hive must be buzzing, if you know, you know, since it’s become kind of a cult classic over the years. As in 20+ years, howwwww?!

Here’s her speech and I love that they evoked Notting Hill when she came up to the stage, at which point she beams that now legendary smile…and honks out that now iconic laugh.

What else happened today…

Julia’s stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, also works with Zoey Deutch who matched Timothée Chalamet’s yellow on Oscar night at the Vanity Fair in this Tamara Ralph gown. The little puffs make the dress, without them it wouldn’t be as interesting. (Go Fug Yourself)

I don’t hate Lily-Rose Depp’s Vanity Fair Oscar party look as much as some other people because if there’s anyone who can wear it, it’s her. But I don’t think an outfit like this happens at Chanel under the incoming stewardship of Matthieu Blazy. So in that sense, you can take this as a timestamp of the last days of Chanel before Blazy and compare it when we, finally, see where he’s taking Chanel in the fall. (Celebitchy)

I live in Toronto and Serena Williams is my birthday twin so the fact that Serena now has a formal connection to our city is the best news. More Serena in Canada! (Essence)
