She knew it wasn’t her night to win.  She wasn’t working overtime to make it happen, she left the working off the carpet and the precious airtime to those who needed it.  I hear that and I respect it.

I bet she had more fun, too, being able to relax with her table and actually take in the awards.  She’s in the best possible place, right?  No real pressure but with a job to go to in the morning.  She was probably enjoying the show.

Is that ANY excuse for this neckline?

Super-crampy tight against her throat!  Tiny horizontal lines making my eyes and TV go buzz!  The fabric and cut could have been offset by some really glam earrings, but instead we got bright bright green ones.   In a dress that’s suffocating her boobs.  With hair skinned back into a ponytail.  This is far from her most glam look.  I believe strongly that she wouldn’t have tried it on a year she was likely to win.

But why so much severity?  What was she trying to do?  To me, this only needs some big-frame plastic glasses (or as we call them in my house “Duana’s Grade 6 glasses” ) to be an SNL costume.

To be clear – the dress, hair, or earrings could have worked, independently of one another.  As it is, she looks a bit like stuffed sausage.

What was she going for?  Who’s the homage to?  What did I miss?
