Kathleen’s piece on Danielle Deadwyler is, as usual, excellent. So good that she pulls off a comparison to Viola Davis… and what she’s saying here is that Danielle should be the frontrunner for Oscar Best Supporting Actress this year. I know better than to argue with Kathleen. (Refinery 29)
Zendaya hosted a Challengers and Dune: Part 2 double feature the other night in a comfortable but chic outfit because, yeah, that’s almost five hours. But also… a great reminder that she stars in TWO award season contenders this year. And, on top of that, pulverised the internet with several hall of fame looks and a hall of fame promotional wardrobe. (Go Fug Yourself)
According to Shawn Levy, Blake Lively’s note about the ending of Deadpool & Wolverine had a huge impact on the final product. So is this supposed to be the equivalent of Ryan Reynolds working on the screenplay for It Ends With Us? Everybody is going to be totally normal about this and not pop off in the comments… right? I LOVE this piece by Miles Surrey about “Guy Cry Movies”, inspired by the imminent release of Gladiator II that, I guess, is sure to make a lot of guys cry like they did the first time. This is a very good list. And I’ll be thinking about it and sneaking looks at Jacek, my husband, when we see Gladiator II this weekend. (The Ringer)
I mean, we knew this was going to happen as soon at the Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest happened and went viral: they would try it with everyone else. With much less notable results. The latest is Jeremy Allen White. And, naturally, it took place in Chicago. I don’t think the winner looks like him at all. (Celebitchy)
