Where celebrity photos are concerned, summer means yacht season and typically it’s Italy where the paparazzi are guaranteed at least one set a week. A new late summer trend for pap photos is emerging though. And it’s not like celebrities have never sent their kids off to college, but it just so happens that the celebrities who’ve been heavily papped throughout their careers now have kids who are college age. So, more and more as we get deeper into August every year, we’re seeing pap shots of very famous people dropping their first-year university kids to school.
Katie Holmes was photographed this weekend moving Suri into Carnegie Mellon – the Daily Mail bought the exclusives. I’m attaching shots of Katie after arriving back in New York after what must have been a pretty emotional few days as a parent. If you’re wondering, even though he has nothing to do with their lives, Suri’s biological father, Tom Cruise, was photographed in his helicopter in London around the same time.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk were seen in New Haven, CT, because Brad’s son is going to Yale. Imagine having Gwyneth Paltrow check out your dorm room? Do you think she redecorated? Did she pack him a box of candles?
Coincidentally, Gwyneth’s ex, Ben Affleck was also in New Haven with Jennifer Garner for Violet, also attending Yale. There are multiple sets of pap shots, also bought by the Daily Mail, of Violet with Fin and their parents experiencing this milestone together. Matt Damon was recently asked about this on the red carpet as he and Ben both have daughters entering university at the same time:

She’s now getting paid to host events, people are flying her to LA for brands and sponsorships and she’ll be able to pay for her transition.
