Katie Holmes is a good friends with Zac Posen. So she wears a lot of Zac Posen. Which is…not my favourite on her. Here she is in a red Zac Posen at the Harry Winston event last night in New York.
It’s a good idea, this dress. With the off-the-shoulder detail gathering into draping sleeves and fit to the body. It’s perfectly cut to her body. My issue is the material. Satin makes me crazy. It’s so shiny. It takes so much light. And with all that light coming off and into it, the fabric looks cheap. The dress looks cheap. It looks like it’s being stretched unintentionally. Those lines across the body might be intentional ruching but the way the light is bouncing off the material, that’s not the effect. To say nothing of the weight grooves and pockets of shadow that are being created that aren’t really there. WHYYYY do people keep designing with satin?
