KP + JT?!

The summer of love continues with perhaps the most random hookup we’ve had, not just in 2025, but in years!

TMZ broke the story this morning – Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau had dinner last night in Montreal at a Le Violon. They were there for a couple of hours, and went into the kitchen to thank the chef and staff afterwards. 

TMZ followed up with details from the chef, Danny Smiles, who said that the vibes between Katy and JT were friendly but not romantic. Sure, not yet. Also, nobody wants to hear this, Danny. And no one will be hearing it. That will not be the part of the story that will be shared. All that matters here is: KATY + JT… let the rumours take it away. 

As for how this could have happened – Katy’s on tour in Canada right now, and she’s freshly single, and Mr Trudeau’s son is an aspiring musician. Mr Trudeau, by the way, is not so freshly single, as he and Sophie Grégoire announced their split two years ago and she’s been seriously dating Dr Marcos Bettolli since shortly after the breakup was confirmed. 

It’s a left field new potential romance, I know, but the math is kinda mathing, isn’t it? Justin Trudeau is extremely polarising, like Katy, and their trajectories are similar. His popularity as Canada’s Prime Minister declined gradually and then spectacularly towards the end of his term. He became a political punching bag, constantly clowned in the media and online. Katy is one of the most high-target cultural punching bags of 2025, with flop after flop, so the ledgers are balanced here, their energies match. The fame equation checks out. But I take exception to anyone who wants to compare Justin and Katy to his father, the Right Honourable Pierre Elliott Trudeau, and Barbra Streisand. How dare you.
