Sarah posted yesterday about Timothée in New York, filming Josh Safdie’s new movie Marty Supreme, in which he becomes Timmy Ping-Pong, as the movie is based on “Ping-Pong Hustler” Marty Reisman who I’d never heard of until this project was announced which led me to that fascinating article in Men’s Journal that I just linked to. Gwyneth Paltrow has a role in the film too, though she’s yet to be seen on set.

Yesterday Timmy was working with Kevin O’Leary and, as Sarah said in her post, as famous as he is, as distinctive as he is, physically, Timmy is able to disappear into his characters. I’m looking forward to seeing him play – assuming that there will be ping-pong scenes about a legendary ping-pong player. Ping-pong is one of the sports I’m generally quite good at, good enough to be able to interview someone while doing it. Everyone will be trying to pitch this when it comes time for Timmy to promote the film. But not everyone can play like I can!

But work isn’t the only Timmy headline. Yesterday PEOPLE had an exclusive about Timmy and Kylie Jenner and the status of their relationship which is very much ON.

“A source close to Jenner tells PEOPLE the Kylie Cosmetics founder, 27, and Chalamet, 28, are "just a great couple” and “everyone loves them together.”

“He’s close with her family and she’s close with his family,” the source says of the pair, who have been linked since April 2023. "It’s very serious, but also a fun relationship.”

“They’ve really been able to figure out a good balance between working and spending quality time together,” the source adds. “He’s involved with her kids and appreciates that they will always be her priority.”

Thanks for clearing it up that the source is “close to Jenner”. Nobody was out here thinking that it was Timmy’s team calling up PEOPLE to update the internet on their status but, you know, Kris would definitely want to put this out there. Not that I’m not appreciative. Because it’s better for gossip that Timmy and Kylie are still a thing, and “very serious”, especially given the timing. It’s campaign season and everyone’s leaving room for Timothée for his performance in A Complete Unknown as Bob Dylan which comes out at Christmas. Chances are he would have already banked some press for it, magazine cover story, probably, and he’ll definitely be promoting it as much as he can in November and the first few weeks of December. If Timmy really does go deep into an awards run, how much Kylie will there be?

I know it feels like it was ten years ago, but remember, at the beginning of this calendar year, at the Golden Globes, Kylie was Timmy’s date… and he was a nominee (Willy Wonka).

That wasn’t the only gossip from the event because the same night, that lip-reading moment between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift exploded onto our timelines, and everyone initially tried to make it some kind of beef between them and Timmy-Kylie.

So there’s definitely precedent for Kylie to join Timmy during award season. Still, Timmy wasn’t a serious nominee last year, but he could be a very serious nominee this year. The game plan changes depending on the chances and how far you want to go. Are we getting these stories right now about their relationship and how committed they are in advance of whatever we’re about to see during award season?
