Everyone is already forecasting Timothée Chalamet as a Best Actor contender in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, but before we even get to see Timmy-Bob in action, Chalamet is already bombarding us with his new look for his upcoming film, Marty Supreme, a movie about a ping pong player. This is why he’s been sporting those wisps of hair on his upper lip. I dub this look: Timmy Ping Pong.

Marty Supreme is a collaboration between Josh Safdie and Chalamet. Safdie is directing and co-wrote the script (with Ronald Bronstein), and Chalamet stars and is producing. A24 has already picked the film up for distribution (so consider it an automatic Oscar contender next year, unless and until we have evidence it sucks). It’s inspired by table tennis champ Marty Reisman, though they’re billing Marty Supreme as a fictionalized telling of Reisman’s story, not a straight biopic. I’m hoping that means this is like Weird: The Al Yankovic Story but for ping pong. (Also, which cinematic brother directing duo are you more upset about splitting up, the Safdies or the Coens?)

Timmy Ping Pong’s dorky hair and ratboy mustache look surprisingly good. Yes, yes, he’s inhumanly beautiful, but I don’t think we give Chalamet enough credit for how effectively he can alter his presence on film with simple things like haircuts and bad facial hair. He has such a distinctive face, you’re never going to mistake him for anyone else, and yet, whenever I watch him on screen, I’m never thinking about that. This is not to say that Timothée Chalamet is not already one of the best of his generation, but I think he will only get better with age, because that face will only become more interesting as time does its thing, which will give him even more ways to use it to his advantage (see also: Hugh Grant). Assuming we haven’t cured aging by the time he hits 40, that is.

Speaking of Chalamet, it’s been a minute since he’s been seen with Kylie Jenner. I assume they’re still happening, though, because it would trend on social media if they weren’t. While he’s been working in New York, she’s been working in Paris. Specifically, Kylie closed the Coperni show at Disneyland Paris, the first fashion show held in any Disneyland. I really like this dress, but I would style it without the gloves, and a major piece of jewelry. But this gown I can definitely see on a red carpet, soon.
