I saw a comment online today – never a good start to a sentence – where someone was remarking on a fashion post from the Tonys all like… this outfit is doing too much, trying too hard, it’s not the Met Gala and my reaction is the only correct one: that the person clearly doesn’t f-cking understand what the Tony Awards are because first of all, you’re not a theatre person if not you’re not doing too much and second, the Tony Awards always happen during Pride Month, and we love this timing, because it’s the month where if you think it’s too much it’s still not f-cking enough.

So with that in mind… some fashion highlights from the Tony Awards starting with Jeremy Pope because, well, this is a serve!

Jeremy is wearing Robert Wun, and he can pull off Robert Wun, with all the drama and performance that a Robert Wun fit deserves. If we’re talking about drama though, a feathered cape will do it – and a regal iridescent feathered cape is fitting for the queen, Queen Latifah. This is Naeem Khan and it is STUNNING.

Next – Cole Escola… it’s giving Molly Ringwald, it’s giving clown, it’s giving Golden Girls – in other words, it’s giving GAY. Which is YAY. GAY YAY SLAY.

Cole was with Maya Rudolph for a minute on the red carpet and this might be my favourite outfit on Maya ever. It’s still within her wheelhouse – a sack dress, looks very comfortable… but also, make it Chanel. The silhouette is SO GOOD on her. And with the beachy waves and the tan, she’s never looked better.

Here’s a dress that we shouldn’t be sleeping on: Carrie Coon in Altuzarra. The high neck, the drop waist, the white set against the black that splits the dress in the middle, and the flouncy skirt – all of it made that much more striking because of her hair. This, basically, is the better version of Julia Roberts’s Oscar dress, you know the one. Black and white Valentino? I prefer Carrie’s.

Finally, it was great to see Megan Thee Stallion back on Broadway after Moulin Rouge and the way it ended for her after Klay Thompson did her so dirty. Megan has always said she can’t be kept down and this was a glorious comeback.
