It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Kristen Stewart pop up in the gossip cycle, right? Maybe since the press tour in the first quarter of the year for Love Lies Bleeding? She spent the summer in Latvia working on her directorial feature debut, adapting Lidia Yuknavitch’s memoir, The Chronology of Water.
That project has likely now wrapped and she’s now in post, freeing up some time for her to show up last night in support of her longtime stylist, Tara Swennen, and presenting her with the InStyle Image Maker Award.
Well, sh-t, I had no idea Tara Swennen was so tall, and it’s not just the heels here. In addition to KStew, Tara also works with Ali Wong, Allison Janney, Idina Menzel, Julie Bowen, and Matthew McConaughey. Since Kristen was not the main character here, her look on this night wasn’t super remarkable, but it’s still very much in her wheelhouse: Chanel and a bra, the end.
Prior to the InStyle event, Kristen actually also stepped out last week, and interestingly enough, it was on the awards circuit. This is standard during award season – a campaign involves recruiting as many influential actors and celebrities in the industry to throw their endorsement behind their chosen candidates. And Kristen was stumping for Sean Baker’s Anora, starring Mikey Madison.
She hosted a screening last week in New York for a film that has been on the Oscar radar since it won the Palme d’Or in Cannes back in May. For months now Anora has been on every Oscars prediction list, and it remains there, even though some of the other contenders have a much higher profile. Mikey in particular has been staying in the conversation alongside bigger names, wayyyyy bigger names, like Nicole Kidman and Angelina Jolie. I know we keep saying but that Best Actress Oscar race really is wide open right now in the sense that there’s no clear frontrunner so they’re pulling in all the assists they can. And KStew is giving hers, or at least one of hers, to Anora.
