Lil Nas X is reflecting on his experience with his song, “Old Town Road”, and its success, despite the pushback he received from the music industry gatekeepers through the lens of Beyonce’s COWBOY CARTER. Given what happened to Beyoncé at the CMA Awards in 2016, two years before Nas’s “Old Town Road”, it probably isn’t a surprise that a young Black artist releasing his music on TikTok and disrupting the systems that the gatekeepers were holding in place pissed them off. And yet… Lil Nas X and his song were unstoppable. (Hollywood Unlocked)

Sarah Jessica Parker isn’t the only one who stepped out this weekend in a huge hat – Margaret Qualley gave us a hat, French Riviera style. And I looooove this one on her. Margaret very, very much suits Chanel. She always looks like she’s disembarking from the first class cabin of some train from a hundred years ago and she wears that aesthetic well. (Go Fug Yourself)

Jon Stewart and The Daily Show writers had a great take on cancel culture – which only exists in one instance, and it’s not how you think. Cancel culture, it turns out, is effectively used by one person and his supporters. For everyone else, though, cancel culture has ended up as a “branding opportunity” because a lot of people seem to be getting rich off of it. (Pajiba)

So it’s been maybe three weeks since I first learned about Bluey. And since then, yes, I’ve finally opened my eyes to the fact that Bluey is everywhere because parents and their children dominate our culture. Now there’s another Bluey fiasco because some restaurant tried to lure the Bluey fans by promising Bluey and ended up with a nothingBluey. This show really is educational. Welcome to disappointment, kids! It’s part of life! (The Mary Sue)

Riley Keough is protecting Graceland, which is part of her family legacy. As she should. But what’s f-cked up and terrifying about this situation is how it could happen in the first place. A shady company claiming to have the rights to sell it and they filed all the paperwork and now she has to spend all kinds of money paying lawyers to shut this fraud down, so even if she wins (and most likely she will) she still loses, how the F-CK is this possible?!
