Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is in New York today making the talk show rounds to promote her new Netflix movie Best of the Best. It’s a dance movie… and right on time, because it’s been a while, we were overdue.

This is Step Up and Pitch Perfect and Bring It On and maybe Sister Act II with a little bit of Booksmart since it looks like the friendship is centered over the boy, but still with some kissing. Just to be clear, it’s a yes to all of it from me, the movie has everything and it’s everything that I want… including Maitreyi and co-star Priyanka Kedia’s skin, oh my GOD.

What I love about this for Maitreyi is that this is a role she’s been kinda manifesting. She’s a pop girl. She’s talked about being a Blink. So there is no doubt that she spent time in her bedroom learning choreo, been at parties doing choreo – when Katseye played Toronto last year, I was actually in the seat next to her. So I’m confident in saying that through this movie, Maitreyi’s making one of her dreams come true, and the fact that so much of this is Bollywood coded too? It checks all of her boxes.

What else happened today…

Saoirse Ronan looks soooooo good in microbangs. (Go Fug Yourself)

We started watching Ted Lasso season four the other night with low expectations and maybe this isn’t everyone’s opinion, but my opinion is that I liked it. Just finished episode two and want to keep going. The cozy is familiar, and welcome. Sounds like the season gets even stronger the deeper into it they go. (Pajiba)

Letitia Wright’s queer love story – a rare glimpse. (Auto Straddle)

Brendan Fraser was honoured the other day and also shared that The Mummy 4 is now in production. (Celebitchy)

Saturday Night Live has announced the first four hosts and musical guests of the season. They must really love Shane Gillis over there. (Entertainment Weekly)
