Margot and Bradley: Oceans next summer
An Oceans Eleven prequel has long been in the works and the original plans were that Margot Robbie would produce and star in the film alongside Ryan Gosling, playing Danny Ocean’s parents, with Lee Isaac Chung directing. Chung left due to creative differences and Ryan dropped out because of scheduling so the project was stalled. Now, though, it would seem that everything is back on track because at CinemaCon yesterday, Warner Bros announced a release date: July 25, 2027. Next summer is far enough away but not that far away…
Which means that production will likely begin this summer – with Margot now co-starring with Bradley Cooper who will also be directing. Margot and BCoop made a George Clooney baby? Sure, I could see it. I like this for everyone involved, even though I wish I could know what the Lee Isaac Chung version of this story would have looked like. It’ll be fun to see what a fun movie from Bradley Cooper looks like, because any Oceans movie should be fun and popcorn and pretty people ripping off institutions while exchanging quips. That’s the essence of Oceans, please nobody change it.
Margot was not at CinemaCon to promote the movie but she did send a video message, telling the audience that:
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents. You’ll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
Margot was just seen on holiday this week (with Phoebe Tonkin) in Saint-Tropez which is not too far from Monaco so I wonder if there might be some pre-production work happening ahead of the 2026 Monaco Grand Prix on June 7. There’s no point in choosing a setting like this if you’re not doing it in the spring or summer.
What else happened today…
Mandy Moore in a monochrome manila outfit, I love it. Especially the belt on the skirt, or the top, I can’t tell, but the slouchy-ness of the top works too. Also, this is one of the few pairs of open-toe sandals I actually don’t hate. (Go Fug Yourself)
One of the worst people on the internet went to South Korea, f-cked around, and found out. (Pajiba)
Sarah Fimm’s list of the most anticipated queer TV shows of 2026. (The Mary Sue)
It’s not like I don’t go on social media for tips. A lot of the recipes I’m making right now come from Instagram and/or TikTok. Medical advice though is crazy. I don’t know why anyone would want to put garlic in their ear but I guess some people have tried it … and, no surprise, it didn’t make a difference. (Celebitchy)
Also on my timeline – the Christopher John Rogers x Old Navy collection. Kimora Lee Simmons and her daughters are part of the campaign and I want all the pants, the pants are so good. (Refinery 29)
