It was announced yesterday that Emerald Fennell is adapting Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. In the most simple terms, Cathy and Heathcliffe are Gothic literature’s Pam and Tommy or Whitney and Bobby. I’m all in on Emerald Fennell and I love that Margot is going in this direction after Barbie but the Jacob Elordi part made me roll my eyes. Because of course he’d want to play f-cking Heathcliffe. It’s all part of his take-me-seriously-I’m-a-serious-actor trip and I-only-play-dark-characters journey which, in its own way, is a box. So who would I have cast instead? Honestly, it would have been brilliant if Margot and Ryan Gosling went from Barbie and Ken to Cathy and Heathcliffe. That’s my answer. (Celebitchy)

We all saw the mess that was Katy Perry’s pre-album release promo and ahead of the album actually dropping last week, there were a few people holding out for the possibility that the other songs on the album might not be that bad. Guess what? The album is actually that bad – critics are eviscerating it. Because after several years of pop girlie domination and a whole summer of pop girls putting out fun and irresistible music, Katy’s flop is just that much more glaring. (Pajiba)

Another weekend, and another opportunity for Cate Blanchett to wear the sh-t out of an outfit. It’s a denim-on-denim situation, which she’s done at least a couple of times this year, and each time she makes it fresh and interesting. The key to this denim suit is the brown piping and the length of the jacket. The Fug Girls aren’t feeling the footwear but I LOVE SO MUCH. It’s both retro and fashion-forward and if it had been a pair of pointy-toe pumps, that would have made it so basic. (GoFugYourself)

I had no idea who Ruby Franke was until a few months ago, when I saw an article about one of her children at TMZ with a video which I did not watch because it looked f-cked up. From the post though, I did put together that this was a story about a YouTube mom with a lot of kids and maybe there was a cult involved. And there happens to be one person in my life who is an expert in this niche field: Duana. I texted her… “Ruby Franke” and she’s never responded to me so fast in her life. From there I was educated. Duana isn’t as available to everyone else as she is to me so if you want more detail about this tragedy, Caitlin Moscatello has written one hell of a report on this terrible story for The Cut. This is why 15 second TikToks will never do it for me more than written pieces because I woke up today with no idea that I would read 1400 words on chicken nuggets and why they’re so controversial, a wonderfully insightful piece by Anna North for Vox, that I know will be better than any video I watch online. Chicken nuggets! So polarising! (Vox)
