On Wednesday the Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning train made a brief stop in Cannes. On Thursday Tom Cruise was back in London to bring the spectacle to the city that’s now pretty much considered his hometown since he spends so much of his time there. At one point he posed on top of a plane – you know, the usual bag of tricks.

It was a starry carpet – in addition to Tom and Christopher McQuarrie, Angela Bassett, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Hannah Waddingham were all there. And also Tramell Tillman. We don’t talk enough about the fact that Mr Milchick is in this movie! And he looks SO GOOD in jewel tones!

But the celebrity factor didn’t just come from the cast. Another major star showed up to support Tom: Michael B Jordan who, still on a victory lap with Sinners, came to return the favour. You’ll recall, a few weeks ago, Tom shouted out Ryan Coogler’s film on Instagram when he went to see it (with Ana de Armas):

Now it’s MBJ arriving in person to pay his respects, not just with a photo post but a reel and the theme song. And, also, LOL, a little reminder of their age difference.

I wrote the other day that it’s complicated talking about Tom Cruise. Because he’s weird AF but among those who work with him and report on him, he’s considered a true professional. And also in the Hollywood community, with the exception of Leah Remini and John Oliver, who are exceptions, they’re all lining up to praise him.

Not that it was that big of a lift for MBJ to get dressed and head over to the theatre. He’s been in London prepping for The Thomas Crown Affair, which he’s directing and also starring in. But now he’s definitely eligible to receive the Christmas cake from Tom….and, maybe, since he’s now directing his second major feature, he’s been invited to screen the six-hour filmmaking documentary that Tom reserves for the select few.
