Sarah covered it earlier this week – Michael B Jordan, who has kept a low profile since winning the Best Actor Oscar in March, is now promoting the animated movie, Swapped, premiering on Netflix this Friday. He was at the premiere the other day but this doesn’t seem like an extensive press tour, nowhere near as extensive as we’ve seen when MBJ is usually on a press tour. When The Thomas Crown Affair comes out next year, that’ll likely be a big press tour. Miami Vice 1985, co-starring Austin Butler, will definitely be a big press tour. Swapped, for MBJ, has been a limited lift. But maybe he doesn’t have to do much more because, well, he’s already interviewed Elmo.
Netflix released the clip today – a conversation between Elmo and MBJ about, well, conversation starters, in the form of questions. and Sesame Street, of course, are all about encouraging positive behaviours that benefit our communities, and MBJ is showing up to spread the message that we should all be engaging more with people in our neighbourhoods. (Here’s where my husband jumps in and says, since when do you go around talking to our neighbours, you can’t wait to lock yourself in the house. This is true – and that’s why I’m looking to the children to save us.) So Elmo and Mike are interviewing each other and, naturally, it’s adorable.
If you were already crushing on Michael B Jordan (that’s all of us), watching him with Elmo is only pouring gasoline on that thirst. For me it’s how affectionately he looks at Elmo, how warm his eyes are, how sweet and warm his voice is. HOWEVER. Do we really believe his favourite ice cream flavour is cherry vanilla? I’m not saying I’m less attracted to him, I’m just saying if this is true, we won’t be ordering the same dessert. I don’t want fruit in my cakes, in my cookies, and definitely not in my ice cream, it’s gross. I said what I said!
What else happened today…
This outfit on Shailene Woodley – my first thought was, OMG, is that Tris Prior… like from Divergent? Do you see it too? (Go Fug Yourself)
I posted yesterday about the Chanel Cruise show that happened in France yesterday and Nicole Kidman and A$AP Rocky were there as ambassadors ahead of the Met Gala. They also filmed a bit with Vogue about trading places and Nicole won. Rocky conceded that she won. Her answer is the correct one, and this sets up, hopefully, a moment between Nic and RiRi on Monday. (Pajiba)
Overcompensating season two is currently in production in Toronto. Fun fact: the costume designer for Overcompensating is Hanna Puley who you might know from her work on Heated Rivalry. So Hanna is responsible for Benito Skinner’s wardrobe (I interviewed Benito at Just For Laughs last summer and he is a doll) although in this scene that was just filmed, in which he is shirtless, it might have been a light day for her. (Out)
I heard about this yesterday from Kathleen who texted me that her morning pick-me-up was the news that… well… it made me laugh and laugh and laugh the way she described it: “My fave whites! In a romcom!” (The Playlist)
Harry Styles wants to have Zoë Kravitz’s baby. (Celebitchy)
