Zendaya: Back in Rue
The order of events is this: I saw new photos of Zendaya in our photo agency (we’ll come back to this in a minute). So I decided to end the day with these shots but before I started writing, I wanted to check if there were any updates about her – announcements/casting rumours/scheduling, etc. The headlines that came up, at least in my feed when I googled, isn’t related to her but one of her friends.
Jacob Batalon is engaged! He and fiancée Veroncia Leahov posted on Instagram last night and the reason Zendaya’s coming up is because, of course, Jacob, Z, and Tom Holland are all in Spider-Man together and Z and Tom just got engaged two months ago.
Anyway, back to Zendaya – she was photographed filming season three of Euphoria with Alexa Demie. The scene takes place in a diner. And the fact that we’re getting at least one Rue and Maddy moment…? As cynical as I am about Sam Levinson, this is hitting me in the right place, I’m excited. I am also excited about how Maddy has been styled, with the curl that’s coming out of her ear and at the forehead, plus the gold earring. Euphoria started several trends, specifically in hair and makeup. The artists who work on the show know this and it looks like they’re coming for us again.
What else happened today…
Colin Jost and Pete Davidson bought a boat together and then they fell out, allegedly. No one really knows exactly what this was about although there’s been speculation that Pete thought Saturday Night Live was making jokes at his expense but also that Colin was burned too many times by Pete being unreliable. After the 50th though, it seems like everything is OK now? Because of a watch? (Pajiba)
Demi Moore did not win the Best Actress Oscar. But she did win the red carpet, all the red carpets. She and Brad Goreski produced some of the best looks of this entire award season – the Fug Girls are here with the retrospective. (Go Fug Yourself)
Bong Joon-ho’s Mickey 17 premieres tomorrow, his first film since Parasite won Best Picture five years ago. The Ringer is calling this a title defence and it’s a great idea for an article – listing 17 of the “Greatest Best Picture Title Defences” and I am thrilled to see The Talented Mr Ripley in the top five. (The Ringer)
Kate Hudson calls herself “the biggest flirt”. And I think we can probably all see that – which isn’t an insult, by the way, it’s just obvious. And also why she’s great at rom-coms. (Celebitchy)
I really, really want to try this recipe for Brazilian cheese bread that’s on the back of Bob’s Red Mill Tapioca Flour packages but … is this the same in Canada? If you’re Canadian and you have a bag at home could you please check and let me know!? (Eater)
