New Year, New Look - LaineyGossip Relaunch!
You may have noticed…
Things look a bit different this morning, right? It’s because we’ve moved the site to a new platform. If you’re interested, we’ll get into the Show Your Work of it in an upcoming Squawk newsletter, but the idea behind the change, aside from some cost savings in hosting and maintenance, is that it will give us more flexibility to react to whatever direction this industry is heading in; specifically, the continued erosion of the ad-supported internet.
Other than the aesthetic changes and a few differences in how you might navigate from page to page, you will note the addition of a couple of paid tiers (top right menu on mobile, “sign-in/sign up" in the top right on desktop). You will now have the option to subscribe to an ad-lite or ad-free experience, where in-article banner and video ads are blocked in the former, and all banner and video ads in the latter.
There is also a free logged-in tier that maintains the browsing experience we’ve always offered at no charge, which does not change going forward. However, free logged-in users will unlock Dark Mode as a reading option if that’s what you prefer (also available in the paid tiers), and there may be more features coming soon. So we hope that you take a minute to set up a profile to get the full experience.
Here's how the site looks in Dark Mode:

If you choose to go premium, payments are handled by Stripe, the web standard for this kind of payment handling – we do not store or handle any credit card information. And if you’re a Squawk subscriber and are interested in going ad-free, stay tuned for more information in your inbox early this week.
We hope that you enjoy the new look and thank you for coming to our site! It’s been two decades and 4 or 5 versions of LaineyGossip, and we’ll hope you join us for many more…
