Dear Gossips, 

Yesterday in the open, I wrote about Bottoms the upcoming high school comedy starring Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott. The dumb jock role in Bottoms is played by Nicholas Galitzine who you might know from last summer’s Purple Hearts, a terrible movie that was a big hit on Netflix and considered one of its most successful movies ever. 

 

Nicholas’s next movie after Bottoms will be Red, White & Royal Blue which I can’t wait to see. It’s based on the book by the same name by Casey McQuiston about the son of the first female American president who is running for election and an English prince who are encouraged to be friends after a diplomatic incident and end up falling in love. Nicholas is the prince and Taylor Zakhar Perez is the first son. You might know Taylor from another Netflix hit, The Kissing Booth 2. He played Marco, the rival love interest who almost comes between Elle and Noah. Are you in? I am so in. Look at this poster!

 

The film comes out on Amazon on August 11 and if there’s anyone out there who’s reading this who might have a hand in this decision, can we please get a trailer?! If we have to wait until August, at least give us some crumbs!

Anyway, back to Nicholas – he’s 28 years old, he’s the romantic lead in the film adaptation of another bestseller, The Idea of You, opposite Anne Hathaway. As I wrote back in October when they were shooting, The Idea of You is about a single mother, around 40ish, who falls in love with a popstar in a boy band, like a Harry Styles type. This is a super horny story, the kissing photos from that set looked super horny. 

 

And what I appreciate about Nicholas is that so much of his career so far has been in the romance genre but he’s been able to play both straight and queer characters. This wasn’t an option for hot, young actors 20 years ago. But now here’s Nicholas going from Red, White & Royal Blue this summer and making out onscreen with Taylor Zakhar Perez right into The Idea of You and making out with Anne Hathaway a few months later (depending on when The Idea of You will premiere). These are the professional choices that are available to him and that he’s accepting. And that the audience is accepting. Because while I didn’t care for Purple Hearts as a movie, I did believe that his character was in love with Sofia Carson. And with what I’m seeing from this poster for Red, White & Royal Blue, I’m also right into there with Nicholas and Taylor. And I definitely buy the heat that he and Annie are selling in the pap shots of them kissing on set. Nicholas Galitzine is serving horny across multiple demos.
