Don’t Worry Darling halted production a few weeks ago because a crew member tested positive for COVID-19. And a lot happened in those few short weeks. There’s been election drama. It was confirmed that Olivia Wilde, who is directing and also has a role in the film, and Jason Sudeikis had split earlier this year after seven years together. And Harry Styles was nominated for a few Grammy awards, the first of his solo career, but despite being a predicted frontrunner in the major categories, did not come away with as many as people expected. Which, to me, is all about the Recording Academy’s boy band bias.
As the cliché goes though, the show must go on…
So here’s Olivia with Florence Pugh, and Harry too, back on set yesterday to resume shooting Don’t Worry Darling. Looks like they’re still working on that party scene that we saw them working on before the shutdown. Which is my segue to shouting out the hair and makeup teams because to the viewer, it’ll be seamless, and it won’t be noticeable at all that whatever we see onscreen has been filmed over a number of days, in this case weeks apart. And they achieve this by meticulous attention to detail. We probably take this for granted. But when you consider that applying the same shade of lipstick to your own mouth looks different from one day to another, you can appreciate how much work goes into this when it’s so many different people and there are so many eyeballs on it.
