Gemma Chan wore Zuhair Murad to the UK premiere of Marvel’s Eternals the other night. It’s not unusual to see Zuhair Murad on a red carpet, almost everyone has worn Zuhair Murad. What’s surprised me is that, well, Zuhair Murad piece, are seldom my favourite. Body-con and sheer and a lot of embellishments isn’t generally my personal style preference.
This look on Gemma though…
Much of what Zuhair Murad is known for is still represented here: we’re still getting a sheer skirt, the whole thing is tricked out and sparkly, there’s bare skin through the mid-section. But of course, the game-changer is the top half. And THAT HOOD.
I always love a soft hood like this. My previous favourite celebrity example was Anne Hathaway at the Met Gala in 2015:
Anne’s hood holds up, for sure, but it had its time, and now it’s time for a new Queen…
Gemma is …like… whatever is 100 levels above exquisite. I can’t get enough of this embellished hood and the way it sits perfectly and frames her face – look at her face!
Gemma called this her “cosmic red riding hood” dream come true. And indeed, she is a dream, a breathtaking dream.
Also, you know what makes this an extra flex? A few nights before, for the premiere in Rome, Gemma wore a two-piece black and silver outfit by Sohee Park that shares a lane with this Zuhair Murad:
Most people wouldn’t want to go back-to-back on these outfits. It takes some real fashion swagger to roll these two looks out in the same week and know that you can still deliver a mic drop moment on the red carpet. That’s Gemma Chan.
