Donald Glover is still working on a Lando-centric spin-off for Star Wars. According to his collaborator and brother, Stephen, it is now being developed as a movie, not a series. Given that the Star Wars TV shows are prone to bloat, even at just 6 episodes, this is probably smart.

The silly gay pirates are back!

Our Flag Means Death is one of my favorite shows currently, the first season was practically perfect, a blend of humor, romance, and more melancholic themes that give the show a sense of pathos belying its quirky Kiwi humor. It returns for season two on October 5, and as dumb

In what has to be one of the dumbest controversies of the month, Millie Bobby Brown is being criticized for using a ghostwriter. UMMMMM. Please. Every single celebrity uses a ghostwriter for fiction and non-fiction, which is fine by me. Writing is a skill and writing a book is more

TIFF Review: Limbo

First Australian filmmaker Ivan Sen has carved out a niche making neo-noir crime dramas about lonely men in lonely places, investigating lonely crimes. His latest, Limbo, is true to his thematic motif, centered on a lone detective sent to a remote Outback town, the titular Limbo, to investigate the cold-case

Ciara's still laughing

Ciara was recently interviewed by The Shade Room and during the interview, the host, Thembi Mawema, asked her about her coparenting relationship with rapper and ex, Future. Her response? A 15-second-long cackle.   “What is co-parenting like for you guys?” she was asked, before erupting into the lengthy fit of laughter,

TIFF Review: Dumb Money

Director Craig Gillespie has a thing for unlikely underdogs. Whether it’s Tonya Harding in I, Tonya or Pamela Anderson in Pam & Tommy, or even Cruella De Vil in Cruella, he makes movies about protagonists we might not otherwise think of as being an underdog. But in Dumb Money,

Aquaman returns

Aquaman was the surprise hit of the DCEU, the now-defunct iteration of the DC cinematic universe. It made more than any other DCEU film, pulling in over $1.1 billion in 2018. Now, finally, the sequel is coming, just in time to not matter anymore. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom

Pacifist Good Samaritan, a short film starring Jonathan Majors

Jonathan Majors’s publicist and legal team probably don’t want me to be calling this video a short film. But life is art, and in our times we live our lives on screen. Sure, there’s a possibility that this was indeed an unscripted, totally spontaneous event but the

Dear Gossips, The writers’ strike is entering its 20th week, and things are happening, none of it particularly good. Drew Barrymore is resuming her daytime talk show, with The Talk and The Jennifer Hudson Show following suit. Bill Maher is also resuming Real Time without writers. Bill Maher sucks so

If you are going to a garden party at a palace, this is exactly the right look. One thing that makes Sarah Jessica Parker so stylish is not necessarily the clothes – this is a perfectly serviceable green dress – but the way her clothes rise to the occasion, whether it’s

Yet another actor-director at TIFF! That was big this year, gee, I wonder why? Michael Keaton directs his first feature since 2008’s The Merry Gentleman with Knox Goes Away, a thriller about a hit man battling dementia in a race to save his son. (It was interesting to see

TIFF Review: The Holdovers

It has been six years since Alexander Payne’s last film, Downsizing, and nineteen years since his previous collaboration with Paul Giamatti, Sideways. Now, Payne is back with The Holdovers, which once again sees Giamatti as his leading man. If Downsizing was a rare miss from Payne, The Holdovers is
