Dear Gossips,
In all the time we’ve been doing this website which, crazily, is over 20 years now, I can’t remember ever posting about the Hollywood Christmas Parade, even though the tradition itself has been happening for 92 years. This year’s event was yesterday and scrolling through photos from the event, which featured dozens of medium stars, probably the biggest name involved was Grand Marshall, Jeremy Renner. He’s an Avenger, after all.
In January it’ll be two years since that horrific accident, so it’s great to see him out like this, on a float with his family, in support of Toys for Tots. The photo that they used, however, to announce that his Grand Marshall status, cracks me up. This is a choice!
Jeremy’s largely stayed out of the headlines in 2024, though he did pop up in the news back in the summer when he listed his home and then again in October when it sold for over $12 million. He reportedly bought it for $4 million, spent over $5 million in renos, and it turns out that Lizzo is the one who will live there now.
Sarah’s mentioned several times over the last few years that Jeremy’s into real estate and has been quite successful flipping properties. This, house, however, he once called his “forever” home, and it’s where his daughter grew up. According to PEOPLE, he’s downsizing now as he focuses on continued recovery.
Next year, though, should be a busier one. There’s at least one high profile project with an huge ensemble cast that isn’t about superheroes. Wake Up Dead Man wrapped in August.
You’ll recall, Jeremy was a running gag in Glass Onion. He was not officially in the film, but his “hot sauce” played a prominent part. And now Rian Johnson has actually cast in him Benoit Blanc’s third movie.
Just as it is every time Benoit has a case to solve, it’s a stacked cast. In addition to Jeremy, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Kerry Washington, Thomas Haden Church, Josh O’Connor, Mila Kunis, and Cailee Spaeny are also involved. Filming took place in London all summer. And I feel like, since the first two movies premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in both 2019 and 2022, it’s a good bet that Wake Up Dead Man will be at TIFF in 2025. And I too hope to be on that carpet because that’s my streak too, since I covered both those premieres for ETALK. If it all works out, though, I will not be asking Jeremy about hot sauce. I will be asking about Hawkeye, obviously!
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
