Pedro Pascal: The Artful Dodge
Pedro Pascal was the main story yesterday – Sarah posted about him being papped after a three-hour dinner with Jennifer Aniston among others and the instant online speculation about whether or not they now might be dating. Interesting timing too since he’s now promoting The Last of Us season two, premiering on April 13th, HBO’s follow-up to The White Lotus for Sunday night domination.
Also interesting, Page Six claimed to know the “truth” about Pedro and Jen’s relationship. According to their source, “There is no romance going on” and “they respect each other as artists but it’s strictly platonic”. Whoever that is, and whoever they’re connected to, sounds like they wanted to shut it down fast.
Pedro, ahead of the premiere last night, stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Jimmy is friends with Jen, not surprisingly she did not come up in conversation. They did, however, talk about another set of paparazzi photos that Pedro considers “violating”. It’s to do with his coffee order, LOL.
I understand how he feels. For those of us who have asshole drink orders, it’s embarrassing. I would not want mine blown up on the internet either. But also, it’s just so cute and sexy the way Pedro giggles about it and then tries to mount his indignation while at the same time acknowledging that six shots is batsh-t.
While Jimmy didn’t go there about Jennifer Aniston, the Extra reporter on the red carpet tried it. Pedro doesn’t play along…but he doesn’t NOT play along. Not that I didn’t love him before but this interview just took it to another level. Because, like, he knows what the game is. And he’s not annoyed by it. He isn’t giving the reporter what she’s asking for, but he isn’t mean to her either, he doesn’t punish her for trying to sneak it in because this is what her producer would have wanted from her.
It’s artful, it’s kind, he makes it look easy even though so many of his peers have such a hard time with it.
