We dump on Margot Robbie + Chanel a lot and the same goes for Penelope Cruz + Chanel. I understand the partnership in terms of brand status and celebrity status. But that doesn’t mean it’s a good fit for style. Like Margot, the Chanel aesthetic just doesn’t work on Penelope who shouldn’t be difficult to dress. And yet whenever she steps out in Chanel it’s just so underwhelming. Here’s another example – Penelope at the New York Film Festival premiere of Ferrari. The Fug Girls weren’t feeling what they call the “arm garters” but that’s the most interesting part of this look. (Go Fug Yourself)
If you were curious about how the studios treat talent? Matthew Vaughn is here to give you some insight on why he quit the X-Men Universe after finding out that producers were prepared to lie to Halle Berry to get her to sign onto the movie with a fake script. This is villain sh-t. (The Hollywood Reporter)
Is there a food you can’t stand the smell of? Sensitive topic for me because when I was a kid, people used to say that Chinese food smells. Which… yeah… it smells f-cking GOOD. I eat a lot of fermented food, like my ma sends over jars of fermented turnip, it’s my favourite. Jacek can’t stand the smell of it, and I don’t understand this because he’s Polish. He’s basically made out of sauerkraut. (Pajiba)
Priyanka Chopra and Sophie Turner have unfollowed each other on Instagram and I don’t necessarily think this means there’s drama or that they dislike each other. For Sophie, as Stephanie wrote last week in her Kayla Nicole post, it could just mean that she’s making a clean break; it’s better not to see updates about a family that you’re no longer connected to in the same way. And for Priyanka, maybe this is a way to avoid any internal drama. Who knows what kind of loyalty the Jonai demand. (Cele|bitchy)
Practical Magic turns 25 years old today! I love this movie! And I say it all the time – if there’s a movie from the 90s about sister witches that I will f-ck with, it’s this one and not Hocus Pocus, which I still haven’t watched and Emily, our site manager, is probably cursing me for it now because she’s been trying to get me on board as long as we’ve known each other. Anyway, in celebration of the Practical Magic anniversary, here’s a rewatch piece, which is delightful. (The Cut)
