It was announced a few days ago that Royal Meghan will join the Queen on a day trip on June 14, her first official outing by herself with Her Majesty. Royal biographer and royal expert Ingrid Seward tells PEOPLE that:
“It is the way of the royal family—all part of the training and getting used to being in public life and under public scrutiny. Showing people the ropes is a high priority for the Queen.”
Also:
“The Queen knows the potential pitfalls of not giving [new members] a guiding hand. It’s all about the monarchy. She can’t expect Meghan to know everything without being shown. She doesn’t want 70 years of hard work to be for nothing. I’m sure she feels Meghan needs a steadying hand in these early days.”
There’s been a lot of talk about the instruction Meghan has been receiving as she’s been brought into the family. And now she basically has the top coach. It’s not a small deal. After all, it’s not like the Queen has all the time and energy in the world. This cannot be taken as anything other than what it is: a sign that the Queen is investing in Royal Meghan and that Meghan is part of the legacy she undoubtedly is hoping to solidify when she leaves. As Ingrid Seward notes:
“This is happening at triple speed. (Meghan) has jumped in straightaway.”
June 14th isn’t even a full month after the wedding. And already they’re sending her out on her own, no Harry, with the Queen for an “away day”. It’s added pressure but it’s also opportunity. The Queen must know that the level of interest in Royal Meghan is high right now. She would understand how much attention them being together that day will generate. Her Majesty isn’t a risk-taker in these matters. Clearly she’s confident. And, clearly, she too is capitalising on this moment.
In other royal news, the Daily Mail yesterday published rare off-duty photos
of the royal family over the last 40 years. One of them in particular stood out – it’s of Prince Charles and you can clearly see in this shot the similarity between him and Harry. Check out this tweet from Mary:
@LaineyGossip You've been saying it forever but this new pic has to silence the Prince Charles and Harry's conspiracy theories. Also, Charles with a beard is👌. pic.twitter.com/tm0yXzm5Ay

That is totally Harry’s nose and lips and face shape. And, yes, I have been saying it forever. That I’ve never believed the persistent bullsh-t about James Hewitt just because he has red hair. You know where his red hair comes from? His grandfather. He looks like his father and his grandfather. Can we put this to rest now?
