Rami Malek is currently promoting The Amateur with Laurence Fishbourne and Caitriona Balfe. Last night was the premiere and today he was making the rounds on radio in a leather jacket. The movie opens April 11, I’ve been seeing trailers for it every time I’m at the cineplex and every time, afterwards, I lean over to the person sitting next to me to say I’m into it.
The Amateur is giving revenge of the nerd, as Rami is playing a CIA cryptographer whose wife is murdered and he wants vengeance – but not as a conventional spy. Instead he uses geeky brain schemes to deliver payback on the people who killed her. It’s the fantasy for those of us who will never be able to run, kick, jump, Ethan Hunt our way out of a problem but who daydream often about f-cking up our enemies. Is that just me? If someone so much as bumps into me on the train without saying sorry I am spending the whole walk to work plotting his demise. Maybe not the healthiest way to move through life but for those of us who do live that way, this is who The Amateur is for.
What else happened today…
Great news for fans of Nathan Fillion. (Pajiba)
It was a bit of a Succession reunion on Broadway at the premiere of Glengarry Glen Ross in support of Kieran Culkin. Also Katie Holmes in a sort of sheer dress that looks great on her. (Go Fug Yourself)
Where would Celestial Seed rank on the list of absurd celebrity baby names? I can totally see why people thought that was what Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly named their child. Can’t really blame social media illiteracy for this one, IMO. A precedent has been set and these two are so dramatic and weird, it’d be more of a shock if their daughter was actually called … Jane. (The Cut)
Earlier today I mentioned how Gen X women are having the best sex and technically Fran Drescher is a boomer but she’s not far off and, well, it sounds like she’s having great sex with a rotation. Does it depend on her mood? Like how does she pick? Is it as simple as Monday Tuesday Wednesday? Names in a hat? HOW?! (Celebitchy)
Grey’s Anatomy celebrated its 20th anniversary (!) last week and Entertainment Weekly did a full package on 20 years of Shondaland including an interview with Sandra Oh – Cristina Yang forever! I love every answer because I love her and just thinking about her time on the show makes me want to cry. (EW)
