It’s Paris Men’s Fashion Week, or Men’s Parish Fashion Week, or Paris Fashion Week: Man Edition, however it’s called. The Dior show was today. Pharrell turned up, as did Robert Pattinson, Daniel Craig, and Rihanna. Rihanna is the headline, Rihanna is always the headline, but I also must make time for Daniel Craig looking like a hot professor. Freed from Bond’s tight suits, he’s gotten adventurous with his fashion, but this look—blazer, tie, jeans—it is so sexy to me personally. I love jeans and a blazer. It makes everyone look hot.

Regarding Robert Pattinson, The Batman 2 is reportedly filming next year, for a 2027 release date.

I am perfectly okay with Matt Reeves taking his time to get it right, The Batman has emerged as one of my all-time favorite superhero movies. I just fret about this film because I think it doesn’t fit into James Gunn’s plan for DC and based on nothing but vibes I suspect he at least slightly resents having to keep RBattz around.

Again, based on nothing but my gut feeling, I think Gunn would like to create his own version of Batman and doesn’t want the competition from an alternate version hanging about like, well, a bat. But The Batman is so admired, and The Penguin was such a big hit, he cannot deny Matt Reeves’ vision of Gotham is working. He’s stuck with it. Good for us, because Robert Pattinson is a GREAT Batman and Matt Reeves understands the character like no filmmaker has, not even Christopher Nolan (Bruce Wayne is completely unhinged, deeply unwell, and not even pretending otherwise! Change my mind!). But maybe bad for James Gunn, who has to tolerate this one not insignificant piece of DC lore he does not control.

What else happened today…

Here is a review of Sydney Sweeney’s bathwater soap. I will say this specific concept grosses me out—I don’t like to stew in my own bathwater, let alone someone else’s—but in general, I like Dr. Squatch’s bar soap. They advertise to men—who struggle as a species to wash their asses and thus need targeted advertising—but as someone interested in reducing plastic in my home, I’ve tried a lot of bar soaps to replace body wash bottles and the Squatch bars are effective, have different nice smells to choose from, and have a varied “grit” rating for different levels of exfoliation, including “no grit” for sensitive skin.

I like the coastal mist bar with light grit and seaweed extract for daily use, and the diamond scrub with heavy grit for occasional exfoliating. Don’t need anyone’s bathwater to get involved with it! (Popsugar)

Speaking of Paris Man Fashion, Pharrell’s collections for Louis Vuitton are maturing. (Go Fug Yourself)

Donald Trump has been in The Netherlands for a state visit. Queen Maxima is barely holding it together. Of all the European royals, she seems the most fun. Also, “Queen Maxima” is a rad name. (Celebitchy)

Food fight! The Atlantic says wraps are dog sh-t! Eater declares it “ribbon salad summer”! And The Bear is back! Here are my opinions on all of the above:

-Wraps are tacos for white people who still decorate with “live, laugh, love” signs and complain about mild Pace Picante being too hot.

-Ribbon salad is still salad, and salad is a chore, not cuisine.

-The Bear should only be one season, but the cast is big vibes and the food looks delicious, so it gets a pass.

Speaking of The Bear, people keep coming to Chicago and asking me to take them to The Bear, which is not a real restaurant—not that multiple restaurants around the city don’t LOVE to claim they’re the inspiration for The Bear. However, Eater has put together a map of every restaurant referenced in The Bear across all four seasons, so if you want to come to Chicago and do a food tour inspired by The Bear, you definitely can.

There’s a lot of good stuff on here, including my neighborhood ice cream joint, Margie’s. I am glad, though, not to see some of my favorites on the map, because Bear affiliation guarantees a restaurant will be overrun with food tourists. It’s the new Check, Please!. (Eater)
