Madison Square Garden has been the epicenter for gossip for the last several weeks. MSG’s primary resident, of course, is the Knicks. Then there’s all the speculation about whether or not it will be Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding venue… but for the last two nights, MSG became the temple of a pop culture priestess, her name is Rosalía.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – her album, Lux, is a masterpiece, one of the best albums of the last year, and it should be a frontrunner for Album of the Year at the Grammys in 2027. The tour, also, is one of the most acclaimed productions on the circuit right now. Reviews for both shows at MSG have been overwhelmingly positive, with Rolling Stone proclaiming that the performances featured “some of the most insane vocal acrobatics we’ve ever heard from Rosalía”.

But the concert also features a segment that serves as a confessional, where Rosalía helps people unburden themselves in the booth. Last night that was Marcello Hernandez, who evidently is the go-to cameo for popstars during their shows because, you’ll recall, he previously went viral when he was pulled up by Sabrina Carpenter on her tour.

The confessional happens before “La Perla”, probably my second-favourite track off Lux after “Reliquia”, basically a song about a f-ckboy. Marcello is not a f-ckboy, he tells the story of being f-cked over on a date, but she makes it so fun, so buoyant – there has never been a song that’s made me want to take dance lessons as much as this one.

I couldn’t go to see Rosalía in Toronto last weekend because I was out of town for work. But if she’s coming near you, and you can, and you love live music, try not to miss her, she is a dream.

Here she is out in NY with Loli Bahia, one of the sexiest celebrity couples of the moment.
