Dear Gossips,   

Hi, it’s me. I’m still here because I have not been raptured. This is not a surprise – because I am not fit for wherever the rapture is supposed to take people. Or maybe it hasn’t happened yet since no one said that is has to happen in the morning, necessarily, although at the time of this writing, September 23 is supposed to last for only another two hours and as far as I know, no one has been disappeared without explanation.

 

Let’s move on then with our unraptured existence and start the day with a good cry, although the song I’m about to play that will bring forth tears is not salvation is actually quite appropriate for everyone, raptured or not.

The Dawson’s Creek reunion happened last night in New York and here’s the first text I sent to Duana this morning that basically checks all her boxes: when Grams and Angelica Schuyler sang it together.

Reunited and it felt so good ❤️ Tonights Dawson’s Creek Class Reunion was full of heart, nostalgia, and surprises. The original cast showed up strong — Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Philipps were all there reading the pilot live at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. James Van Der Beek was supposed to be there too, but illness kept him away he did join via video! We were so lucky that Lin-Manuel Miranda stepped in to play Dawson in the HAMILTON THEATER. A magical night for Capeside fans 😭

I never needed the nostalgia for that song to break open my heart, it was devastating the first time I heard it. And now, of course, more than ever. 

 

The event was a fundraiser for F Cancer in support of James Van Der Beek who is currently battling colorectal cancer and couldn’t be there due to two stomach viruses. He sent a video message and his wife and children attended and joined the cast onstage for the theme song after the live-reading of the first episode. Here’s another angle, your mascara might run if you watch this, be warned. 

 

This is the first time the cast has all been together since 2003, and the idea for the reunion came from Michelle Williams, she was the one who pulled everyone together and, probably, made the call to Steven Spielberg since she worked with him on The Fabelmans. Steven acknowledged his biggest fan, Dawson Leery. 

 

And yes, for the Joey and Pacey shippers out there, a moment for you too: 

Apparently they left in the same car. 

 

The moment that f-cking crushed me, though, is when Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, and Michelle Williams came out together at the end, with a photo of all four of them on screen behind them.
