The Jurassic World Rebirth press tour has been a consistently good style showing for Scarlett Johansson, who has worn her “favorite silhouette” and, more importantly, sported loose, soft waves rather than super tight, slicked-back hairdos. Well, two steps forward, one step back, because at the New York premiere of Rebirth, she’s back to her old super tight pony tricks. She also wore matchy-matchy white with her husband, Colin Jost.

They look like the married youth pastors of a Southern California mega church.

I actually don’t hate the dress—I don’t like it as much as her pink Westwood or buttony Balmain, but I don’t HATE it—but the hair style bugs me so much. I just don’t think the tight updos go with the kinds of gowns she likes. Like this lingerie-inspired dress is romantic and borderline bridal, a looser, softer hairstyle would be better than a slicked back pony. To be fair, if ScarJo ever comes out and says she loses patience with the glam process and so often ends up just scraping her hair back in an up do, I will let it go, because that I could understand. Otherwise, I can’t think of why she keeps doing this when she has proof that softer hair styles work so much better with her styling!

Anyway, ScarJo was also seen kissing Jonathan Bailey on the red carpet:

Which she has done before:

Whomst among us wouldn’t take the chance? WHOMST!

Also, ScarJo has been honest about how much she wanted to be in a Jurassic movie, and now that she is, she is enjoying the hell out of it. Good for her.

The main cast together at this premiere is making a strong case for stylist coordination:

Everyone’s got their slutty little glasses on in their summer neutrals! Jonathan Bailey: Trendsetter. Also, Mahershala Ali is Saying Words about playing Blade in the MCU, something that was promised in 2019 and has yet to be delivered. At the premiere, he told a reporter to “call Marvel” and “let them know I’m ready”.

He’s been ready for six years! I know the pandemic and the dual labor strikes were major spanners in the works, but honestly, Blade isn’t a hard character to crack. He’s a cool guy with a sword who fights vampires, it does not have to be more complicated than that. And the reaction Wesley Snipes got reprising the role in Deadpool & Wolverine is proof that audiences WANT this character back on the big screen, why Marvel is making it so hard on themselves is beyond me.

…Unless they’re worried about how Blade fits into the larger MCU. In which case, they shouldn’t be. Blade famously occupies his own corner of the Marvel universe, if you must make a connection, just let it be the old joke that Blade is in desperate need of help to hold back the vampire threat and the Avengers are like “….no”. Blade is one of those characters that can be a case study for just letting pieces of the MCU exist on their own without connecting to a larger story. Whatever the issue is, at this point, I am highly skeptical that we ever see Mahershala Ali star in a Blade movie. At least we have Jurassic World Rebirth? I guess?
