Selena Gomez stepped out solo at the 4th Annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit last night. The Rare Impact Fund is not the mental health initiative her mother was involved with, that was Wondermind, a for-profit start-up. The Rare Impact Fund benefits mental health initiatives, and 1% of all Rare Beauty sales goes to the Impact Fund, so this is Selena’s own fundraising gala.

Selena showed up in red custom Prada and sleek hair:

Also present were Leon Bridges, gymnast Jordan Chiles, Sean Hayes, America Ferrera, and the always impish Martin Short turned out for his Only Murders in the Building co-star, too:

Pretty Little Liars star and luggage maven Shay Mitchell was also there, in a not terrible sheer pink dress:

I mention Shay Mitchell mostly because she is going to appear in the new Baywatch reboot starring Stephen Amell. The trailer dropped the other day, and it looks… Well, it looks. I mean, it’s not like Baywatch was ever high art, we’re not looking for Chekhov here.

But Baywatch does have one thing that few television shows do, and that is a truly insane character introduction. Nothing will ever top Pamela Anderson’s first scene as CJ, who was introduced playing the saxophone on the banks of a river.

Truly, the Nineties were a wild time. If anyone in the new Baywatch has a character intro to top CJ jamming out on the riverbank, I will eat my hat. Nothing will ever top this. It is television but also cinema.
