Selena: The Only One in the Building
Finally! A win for Only Murders in the Building – two actually! Because as Selena Gomez said at the SAG Awards last night, they always lose. And they have been… for four f-cking seasons. So it actually was a surprise when Martin Short won Best Actor in a Comedy and how sh-tty for him that he had COVID and couldn’t be there.
As for the SAG for Outstanding Ensemble, did you see the montage that was played about everyone in Hollywood getting their start on one of the Laws & Order? There should be a future montage that an actor graduates from Law & Order to… Only Murders in the Building. They haven’t yet announced guest stars for season five, which goes into production very soon, and given how season four ended, we’re heading into an Arconia X Goodfellas/Sopranos mob vibe storyline now. Don’t be surprised if Michael Imperioli shows up. Or maybe even Robert De Niro himself.
Anyway, to go back to the SAGs, and the finally winning – maybe it’s because half the union has been in it, LOL. And, also, it’s just such a good show, I love it so much.
Also… OMG… Selena’s look last night. The custom Celine dress is her preferred silhouette and it’s timeless. Big ups once again to Erin Walsh.
But, really, it’s Selena’s face, the hair and makeup. This is so key for Selena…
She has her own makeup line! And her makeup artist, Hung Vanngo, has been using all Rare products on her. Here’s the breakdown from last night:
When I say this girl is firing on every cylinder, it’s almost an understatement. She was repping both film and television last night at the SAGs. She got up on stage as one of the lead actors and producers for the comedy series winner. She is relentlessly dropping fashion and face bombs on every carpet – and making money while doing it with the success of Rare. And she and Benny Blanco are releasing their joint album, I Said I Love You First, on March 21.
What a f-cking start to her 30s.
And now, what else happened today…
Pamela Anderson chose a white Dior dress last night for the SAGs. One shoulder, sort of like a half cape, it was pretty if not the most exciting. It tracks though – Pam was all over Paris Fashion Week in January and the looks she’s been modelling on the red carpets corresponds to the fashion houses who invited her to their shows. Jacquemus for the BAFTAs and Dior for the SAGs. (Go Fug Yourself)
During our SNL 50th Anniversary special live chat at The Squawk, someone asked me about Lorne Michaels and what it meant that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively were at the event. My answer was basically: it means that Lorne Michaels is a gossip, and knows how to bring the gossip to his show. This has now been corroborated by Dana Carvey. He may only have been half-serious but half is enough to give us confirmation that Lorne lives on gossip (Pajiba)
Cynthia Erivo was in archival Givenchy for the SAGs – it was playful and dramatic and if this is the one before the Oscars, I’m so curious to see if they dial it up or bring it back on Sunday. As for Ariana Grande, it was pink, and it’s all starting to blend together and this isn’t really what I’m looking for when I think of Loewe. (Celebitchy)
Sorry, sorry, SORRY. I missed the news about A Different World streaming on Netflix! Guess what I’m doing tonight?! Especially now that I’ve read this piece by Dontaira Terrell on why this show endures and how it holds up, and in particular how it continues to resonate with Black women. (Refinery 29)
I’m sorry again. This time because I couldn’t help myself. I could not read this article fast enough – The Cut dedicated a piece to “Luigi Mangioni’s fan girls”. (The Cut)
