The Beckham sideshow is in full swing

Since Brooklyn Beckham decided to tell his parents to kick rocks earlier this week, there’s been no official or even unofficial statement from all the other family members. Nicola Peltz-Beckham hasn’t posted, Victoria and David haven’t (obviously) and neither have Cruz or Romeo, not even “subtly.” It seems as if everyone has decided to go to their respective corners and cool down, at least for now.
Like I said yesterday, we don’t know these people. But both sides have moved with a strategy and both sides want to look their very best to the public. Brooklyn wants people to see his parents how he sees them, but he has to cut through years of familiarity. Much like the way people chose sides in the Royal Family versus Harry and Meghan, there’s no changing minds here. Either people already liked Victoria and David and will stick with that, or people didn’t like them and this validates it.
The comment sections continue to rage; some people feel that Brooklyn should just be grateful and yes, he has had a privileged life. The definition of a privileged life, really. But growing up with famous parents would suck in many ways, including finding an identity (he has famously struggled to get a foothold in his career) and also just being a child and being photographed all the time. Many people are not built for that, nor do they need to be. This is a very tangled family business and in that case, how does one opt out of the business without opting out of the family?
In the absence of any further on-the-record statements from the Beckhams and the Peltz-Beckhams, the side characters are coming into play. Here are some updates:
You know the Spice Girls are riding hard for their girl, I have no doubt. It was Emma Bunton’s birthday and Victoria posted a story. Then Emma posted this.
There’s also the husband of DJ Fat Tony (they were both at the wedding). DJ Fat Tony has worked events for the Beckhams and is a fixture on the UK scene (including festivals, weddings and more). He is in their circle, but maybe not their inner circle as he doesn’t ever really appear at their more casual parties, or on their vacations. His husband Stavros Agapiou “confirmed” the inappropriate dance with a comment. A source told the UK outlets it was a neck nuzzle, with Victoria wrapping her arms around him (Is this a… hug?). This was around 11pm, when the band started and the first dance was done.
Anyway, Stavros took it down right away and changed it to “speaking his truth” and obviously, this is VERY messy on the social side. Stavie loves it, he continues to like comments on his post. But methinks there may be a little bit of sour grapes here – DJ Fat Tony didn’t DJ Victoria’s birthday either (that was Hale Zero) or David’s (he hired D-Nice). I don’t even know if DJ Fat Tony was there. So, maybe a bit of payback?
Elton John hasn’t commented (and honestly he’s a wild card, I could see that going either way) but I wrote months ago that he doesn’t interact with David and Victoria, but often comments on Brooklyn’s posts (he is his godfather).
There have also been some people in the general vicinity, like hairstylist Justin Anderson. He wrote on the post below: “brooklyns wife was one of the worst “celebs” i’ve ever worked with. it’s her 💯 she’s a baddddd apple 🚩 everyone knows how close the beckham family really is…”
And for Bravo watchers, there’s a long-standing rumour that when Nicola dated Anwar Hadid (brother of Gigi and Bella), Anwar distanced himself from his family and Yolanda Hadid nipped that in the bud REAL quick. Now, if you watched Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, you know Yolanda doesn’t f-cking play when it comes to her children. She makes Victoria Beckham look like Miss Rachel. She ran Nicola right out of that Malibu lemon grove.
Brooklyn has asked for privacy so his laying low is expected. Victoria and David will push on, that’s what they do. Cruz is performing in March, his first show just sold out, and he’s announcing more. There will be a full display of family unity there, no doubt.
What I really want to know is… where is Marc Anthony? Was the dance coordinated or an off-the-cuff decision to get the party started? Marc Anthony speak your truth, we are all ears!
