The West Wing’s 25th anniversary is next week, so cast members from The West Wing appeared at the Emmys to present the award for Outstanding Drama Series.
No matter how annoying Aaron Sorkin gets, I will always love The West Wing. It’s a comfort show. I can go back and watch an episode like “Big Block of Cheese Day” at any time and love it now as much as I did then. So it is with this bias in mind that I say Allison Janney is my best dressed of the night. She stepped forward on stage and I gasped out loud.
She is tall, she is glamorous, she is dramatic, she can step on me, and I would thank her for the privilege. She’s wearing Guarav Gupta, and I love the whole look.
I especially love that she styled her short hair. There’s this thing lately with women with short hair just wearing their bobs unstyled on the red carpet and I hate it. A bob is not a cheat code. Style your hair!
There’s something sort of Charles James about the volume of the red panels on the skirt, the opera gloves add to the impression of old-school glamour. I always love a bold red lip. The diamond necklace is just the right amount of bling. Top to bottom, there’s nothing about this look I would change. Allison Janney looks amazing, she knew a West Wing reunion at the Emmys would be a moment, and she dressed for it.
