Taylor’s Friday night
Taylor Swift’s post-Swoki media strategy/standard media strategy – friend armour – was played on Friday night at NY Fashion Week as she stepped out to support Gigi Hadid at the Tommy Hilfiger show. Gigi collaborated on a line with Hilfiger and Taylor sat front row, hootin’ and hollerin’ in her red velvet Gigi thigh-highs.
SO PROUD OF YOU GIGI!!!! That show was INSANE. Congrats to Gi, Tommy, and all the girls who just owned that runway!! @gigihadid @marthahunt #tommyxgigi

I’m such a good friend. I give my everything to my friends. The men are disposable but the friends are forever, “too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet”. They are the New Romantics. OMG she’s living the lyrics to her own song.
Having Taylor at the show exponentially increased the hype – and Gigi certainly appreciated it, because she told ET later that:
“She’s obviously such a great friend, and you know, she is starting to go back to work in the studio again, and really made time to be here for me, and I am so grateful for that.”
I mean, Taylor’s publicist couldn’t have written a better statement. So she’s working on new music, right on time, fresh after the end of Swoki, with new inspiration and a marketing narrative to build it around, almost as if the relationship with Cee Hairuss wasn’t enough for any creative inspiration. Speaking of that blandness though, you’ll note that she’s singing along to This Is What You Came For on her own Insta video. Not because she was doing him any favours but because she owns the publishing rights for the song. It pays her.
