The Beckhams, as usual

It’s now been over a month since Brooklyn Beckham put his own family drama on blast on social media with a multi-slide post on IG stories revealing his and Nicola Peltz’s version of what happened at their wedding and the first-but-really-third dance. While the veneer of Beckham impenetrability was certainly cracked by Brooklyn’s going nuclear on his parents, it’s not like the entire Beckham foundation has crumbled. And it’s not like David and Victoria went into hiding and ran from the scandal and scrutiny either. They’ve been as visible as ever, with an assist from the Spice Girls, and protectively flanked by their three younger children, one of whom recently celebrated a birthday.

Cruz turned 21 a few days ago and last night there was another dinner in London to mark the occasion with other celebrities in attendance, including Dave Grohl and his wife Jordyn – Maria must be freaking out that so many of her kinks are colliding. What David and Dave have in common is overcoming infidelity, although Dave took that to a whole other level over David by having a child from an affair, in his 50s.

David and Victoria have dedicated several posts to Cruz for his birthday, including this video in which Brooklyn also appears several times.

And, of course, they’ve been supporting him with his music release – as MC noted in his column last week, Cruz’s song “For Your Love” actually doesn’t suck. He’s found a sound, leaning Oasis, and it suits him.

David’s most recent post featured Harper Seven on a winter getaway. The caption, on the surface, seems like he’s trying to deflect from the drama but those who’ve been following the Beckhams for decades recognise this as standard operating procedure. Well before any of Brooklyn’s grievances were hinted at, David and Victoria have always openly expressed their affection for their children which ironically might be one of the reasons they’ve been able to weather this latest skirmish, at least until the next offensive, if there is one.

For now though, tensions have de-escalated on both sides. David and Victoria continue, as usual, their movements largely unchanged despite Brooklyn making his accusations public. And Brooklyn and Nicola, perhaps sensing that they haven’t done as much damage to the Beckham brand, even though they claim that was not their intention, have also gone back to creating content that’s generating significantly less attention.
