It’s not yet the end of the month, but the most organic and delightfully wholesome pop culture moments belong to one person: Céline Dion. Her hotel departures and returns have become twice daily events unto themselves, on top of the concerts she’s performing during this residency. The fans gather reliably on show days and she reliably greets them – with a great outfit and an even greater heart, taking the time to appreciate them, to acknowledge their patience, their devotion, and also entertaining them… while entertaining and stressing the f-ck out of her security.

Look at this goof, and by goof I am referring to her:

That’s our silly, zany, adorable Queen of All Feelings being her whole self, always, in the daytime and during the nighttime because I’m sure you know by now that after her performances, before she heads into the hotel to rest and relax after giving everything she has on that stage, she is still doing karaoke night with the faithful who won’t leave until she’s given them their evening blessings – which, for her bodyguards, translate to near heart attacks. 

Céline has a show tonight – and she’s in a white silk blouse today over a white skirt with a feather trim but what does it matter what she’s wearing when she’s ready to rock out? Look at these body rolls!

By every measure her first week of concerts was a smash hit but the only measure is her own. She is having a great time, she is connecting to her music on another emotional level, she is letting the crowd see her anxiousness, her relief, her triumph, and she is proud of her own resilience. You can see it every time she hits a note or even when she doesn’t quite hold the note – because all that matters is that she’s at her best right now, in this time, in this body, with this voice.

I know this because she included it in the recap video that was posted yesterday, celebrating the first week. The part during “All By Myself” where she goes for the top, it’s imperfect before the big finish but we get to where we need to go. That’s what Céline is teaching herself every day.

And also, Rihanna makes an appearance. She’s been to two of Céline’s shows so far, receiving all the joy and gratitude that Céline was sending out. 

When you go to a Céline Dion show, the only thing to do is sing along. And so she did.

I binged the first season of Black Doves and now I can’t remember any of it but season two is coming and now I feel like I have to rewatch but there’s already so much to watch. (AV Club)
