What Else?
I saw Zendaya trending earlier and dropped everything to find out why. And it’s related to the new Hollywood Reporter cover story about Euphoria. Zendaya is not actually the main character of the article – the main character is showrunner Sam Levinson and his reputation and how he’s allegedly mismanaged the productions that he’s been leading, not just Euphoria but also The Idol.
This is a really, really sad story that includes two tragedies and a lot hurt feelings and people who once loved each other bitterly ending their relationships and, again, Zendaya isn’t the focus. But they’ve put her on the cover because, of course, she’s Zendaya. And some people in the story seem to be suggesting that she’s contributed to the Euphoria season three delay, implying that her ambition in seeking a film career presented an obstacle to scheduling, comparing her to Sydney Sweeney who, according to sources, was totally accommodating. This is gross, and whoever these sources are, if they are indeed close to Sam Levinson, are misfiring. It is not helping him to try and save his own image by trying to come for hers. But also? My takeaway from reading all these allegations about her is that she’s a f-cking boss. She’s advocating for the best interests of the show. She’s using her power to make sure the show has the right kind of leadership. (THR)
There are certain hair colours that suit certain people more than others, right? For example, Scarlett Johansson I prefer as a blonde. Her natural hair colour is brown. Emma Stone’s natural hair colour is blonde, and I like it better red or brown. Kristen Stewart I prefer with brown hair rather than blonde. I have no idea what Cher’s natural hair colour is and I don’t care. Because to me Cher’s hair should always be jet black. Seeing her here as a blonde is f-cking me up. (GoFugYourself)
I’ve never watched Strictly Come Dancing, just as I’ve never watched Dancing With The Stars, so I didn’t really think about how big it is in the UK until Kayleigh Donaldson told me about it in her new piece about the Strictly scandal – and it’s a huge scandal. This is horrifying behaviour. And let’s not wave it away as a one-off. As Kayleigh writes, these are systemic issues. (Pajiba)
The host city for the 2027 Invictus Games has been announced and even though it’s three years away, given the location, all the reporting around this is going to be messy AF because the tabloids, they live for the drama. If only we had a time machine and could go forward and see what the status of the British royal family will be by then. And the world, really. Will we be less anxious all the f-cking time in 2027? Can we please be? (Celebitchy)
I posted a couple of weeks ago about Sprint, Netflix’s latest docuseries timed perfectly for the Olympics, focusing on several track and field stars who could be among the biggest stories of the Games. This, to me, is why I can’t quit the Olympics – it’s about who peaks at exactly the right time and comes into the moment, which then turns into the origin of their mythology. That’s the word used by Kyndall Cunningham in this piece about Noah Lyles who has already started creating his own legend. (Vox)
