Tiffany Haddish has finally confirmed she’s in a relationship with Common during an appearance on Steve-O’s podcast. They’ve been friends since co-starring in The Kitchen, but the dynamic changed when the world went into lockdown and now she admits she’s in love.
Back in 2018, Lainey wrote about how Tiffany and Common continued hanging out well after filming on The Kitchen wrapped, attending comedy shows and concerts together. According to Tiffany things got romantic after she made the move to set up their first date. In 2020, the ladies aren’t waiting for the fellas to shoot their shot!
“Bumble approached me about doing something. I had been talking to Common and hanging out — like he comes to play spades with me and my friends — and then I mentioned it to him and […] at this point our friendship was getting a little more than friendship, but not quite.”
Tiff says the COVID-19 pandemic really stalled their 'talking phase’ (girl, same!) but they were FaceTiming all the time. After he agreed to team up with Bumble (they donated their compensation to frontline organizations) things got serious, fast.
“And then he got tested for everything, I got tested for everything and yeah, we’ve been f—king.”
(Lainey: thank you for this clarification, Tiffany. I needed it.)
Now, Tiffany can’t stop raving about the guy.
“This is hands down the best relationship I’ve ever been in. Knock on wood! I’ve lost 20 pounds since I’ve been in this relationship. I feel more confident in me and it’s not him that’s doing it. I’m just way happier and it’s like knowing I got somebody that cares about me, that really has my back. It seems like he does anyways. And I love it. I love him.”
Dropping the L-word after just a few months? I mean, I guess if you’re spending everyday together in isolation, when you know you know, and Tiffany’s beaming when she talks about the Oscar and Grammy-winning rapper-turned-actor. She also reveals he’s super down with their matching shaved heads, after Tiffany did ‘the big chop’ last month.
“He said it was beautiful. He’s like, ‘Wow, you did it man. You’ve got a lot of courage. You look so beautiful. I love it.’ And I’m like, ‘Ahh, put your head on my head.’”
Do we like this pairing? I personally love it. It feels like Common complements Tiffany’s energy by grounding her and bringing out her spiritual, emotional side, while Common, who is Kumbaya AF, is probably energized by Tiffany’s youthful outlook. They’re very yin and yang.
Common’s previously been linked to Serena Williams, Erykah Badu, and Angela Rye. Very different personalities, but I think he’s got a type: strong Black women who are unapologetically themselves — just like Tiffany. Plus, as he told Lainey last year he’s taken dating advice from Michelle Obama. Another strong Black woman. I wonder if Tiffany is Obama-approved?
