As Sarah just wrote in her post about the BAFTAs today, Oscar voting ends today and that’s why Timothée Chalamet’s 60 Minutes interview aired two days ago, on Sunday. This is one of the very few times Timmy has done anything on this Oscar campaign to appeal to older Academy voters. Will it be enough to make up all that ground and close the increasing gap between him and Adrien Brody? Probably not. 

 

But, hilariously, also on Sunday, a few hours after Adrien was named BAFTA’s Best Actor, Saturday Night Live included him in their montage of “characters and sketches that have aged horribly”. 

 

If you are unfamiliar with that moment, the full clip is here. Needless to say, Adrien has never been invited back to 8H. There had to have been at least a few Oscar voters reminded of that mess, some of in the very room at Saturday Night Live. Will it make a difference? Probably not. But it kinda tells you about Lorne Michaels and his memory. 

 

Back to Timmy on 60 Minutes - no major revelations here but they make a point of repeating things we’ve heard before: how he prepared for five years to play Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown; that he did his own singing in the film; that he grew up in New York, taking Anderson Cooper to his old building and sharing videos from his teen years on stage in high school, all standard 60 Minutes stuff…but Timmy style, in that he’s definitely not pandering to the olds with his clothing. Which I’ve been mentioning a lot because I’ve quite enjoyed this fashion phase. Like, he showed up to the Berlin Film Festival in a pink tank and jeans and later put a matching hoodie on.

So I was surprised and maybe even a little disappointed to see him in a proper suit for the BAFTAs.

The clothes are not the gossip, though. The gossip is Timmy and Kylie. The move is now that she skips the carpet and joins him inside the event. She was seated next to him in Berlin. And the other move is that his hand is always on her thigh. 

 

Or her hand on his thigh which is what happened at the BAFTAs. Basically just hands all over the place.

It reminds me of the Beckhams. Those of you who where around during the earlier days of this website will recall that I called all this thigh-hand combination the Beckham because that’s how they’d sit at games, award shows, when they’re side by side, this is how they’d perform their PDA. And, now, seemingly Timmy and Kylie too.

She’s been sat at his table at the Golden Globes, two years in a row. She was next to him at the BAFTAs. This coming Sunday will be the SAGs, usually a table arrangement and if she’s joined him at all the other events, it’s not a stretch to think she might be there too. The following Sunday, finally, is the Oscars, always a theatre seating setup. Will Kylie be the first of her kind to sit front row at the Academy Awards?!
