Beckham Yacht Season

It’s officially Celebrity Yacht Season and for the next four months this is where we’ll see the usual celebrities on the summer yacht circuit. The Beckhams were photographed in Ibiza with Harper and Romeo, plus his girlfriend Kim Turnbull.

Victoria’s coming off a recent professional win as her Gap collection is a certified hit. The capsule is almost sold out – anything left is in extremely limited quantities and sizes. This was another smart business decision for VB, now that her own label is making money with $170 million in sales last year. VB x Gap is more accessible, obviously, but it reinforces the fact that VB is a recognisable and sought-after brand, whether in collaboration or as a standalone.

The timing of the VB x Gap drop is interesting because it came just after the controversy in her personal life, with Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz Beckham putting his family on blast. So far, Brooklyn’s revolt against his family doesn’t seem to have hurt Brand Beckham.

As for David, perhaps a little downtime before the World Cup. He’s not only one of the sport’s most well-known ambassadors, as a former player and an MLS team owner, he’s also an official ambassador with the tournament and several sponsors. So he will have a presence, it’s just a matter of where he shows up – perhaps at one of the matches that will be played in Miami or one of England’s matches, and obviously the finals. Can’t imagine that Victoria will be joining him for all of it, maybe even any of it, considering her WAG days are well behind her. I miss the sight of her in denim shorts – happy 20^th anniversary to this look:

The fictional league commissioner in The Long Game, which is the sequel to Heated Rivalry, is a villain. And the real-life commissioner of the NHL might be worried that the way the fictional character is portrayed will be a reflection on him and how he would react to two superstar players coming out. Apparently he’s already addressed with the show’s producers. And the league is apparently preparing to make sure that the public won’t conflate him with the character. Is there a “Gary Bettman is a sweetheart” campaign in our future? This man clearly doesn’t know what people think of him. Not even Olivia Pope could change my mind about him. (Out)
